Challenges & Solutions
The Challenge:
This Greeley homeowner filed an insurance claim after storm damage compromised their roof’s integrity. The existing roof lacked adequate ventilation to meet current building codes and needed a complete replacement with a system capable of withstanding Colorado’s severe hailstorms and high winds. The project required careful coordination with the homeowner’s insurance to ensure proper coverage while upgrading the home’s ventilation system to current code standards.
The Solution:
Schroeder Roofing worked directly with the homeowner’s insurance company to secure full coverage for the roof replacement and advocated for the PWARR (Prevent Wind and Rain Related) ice and water shield upgrade in additional protection at no extra cost to the homeowner beyond their deductible. Our team performed a complete tear-off to the deck, installed premium Owens Corning Class 4 impact-resistant shingles designed for hail resistance, and doubled the home’s exhaust ventilation by installing six static slant back vents (three replacement units plus three additional code-required vents). We installed valley metal for superior water channeling, added kick-out flashings to prevent water intrusion at wall intersections, and replaced all roof penetration flashings to ensure long-term weatherproofing.
